Prepping for Knit Australia Night classes

Knit Australia Nights Bendigo

I've been having a wonderful time preparing for my classes at Knit Australia Nights Bendigo, and I'm thrilled to share a peek behind the scenes.

In this video, you'll see me creating the felted fabric that forms the foundation of my Embroidery on a Felted Pouch class—a project that brings together texture, colour, and pure creative joy.

The magic starts with layering. Each piece of felted fabric is built from two layers of fibre with a gorgeous middle layer of sparkles, yarn, beads and luxurious kimono or sari silk sandwiched between them. It's this combination that gives the finished fabric a subtle unique character.

Once the fabric is dry and ready, we cut it to size and move onto the best part—embroidery and embellishment. And here's the beauty of it: there are no rules. Whether you're a seasoned embroiderer or picking up a needle for the first time, this is your chance to let your imagination run wild. Stitch, bead, add sequins, or layer colours however you envision it.

From there, we sew the side seams to transform your embellished fabric into a functional pouch. Lining it is optional, and if you'd like to add a felted ball closure, that's optional too. The whole experience is centred around colour, creativity, and having fun with your hands.
